Dance with the Balamb-fish is a lively orchestral piece composed by Nobuo Uematsu in Final Fantasy VIII. To impart a refreshing feeling, I have made a harp arrangement which serves as the foundation of the track, which was further built on with the blend of real/virtual instruments. The harp arrangement was inspired by John Rutter (Suite Lyrique - IV. Waltz), and by John Williams (The Book Thief). Also inspired by Gareth Coker on his breathtaking work on Ori and the Blind Forest score, I hope to learn to blend the track well with soothing ambience and nature-inspired effects.
I would like to thank my collaborators, Doug Perry, Kristin Naigus and Michael Evans for putting in the time and effort to record their beautiful playing. Vibraphone, marimba are excellent to make the track uplifting ; Flute, oboe, bansuri, and cello are fundamental to make the track rich, full sounding. All their instruments serve huge roles in my arrangement, and I feel blessed to be able to collaborate with the talented musicians!
I would also like to thank Matt Scattini, who constantly supports me during my recording process for harp and piano, especially when I was fighting with time!
