After my “Epic Final Fantasy VIII Medley” YouTube video was released, Matt approached me with the idea of doing a full-blown cover of Liberi Fatali, which I immediately agreed to. Materia provided the perfect stage to finally do it! In the same spirit as our medley version, our arrangement has a strong progressive / symphonic metal vibe with heavy intricate guitar parts, frantic drums, a symphony orchestra, and a 16-piece choir featuring musicians and singers from all across the globe. -Marc Papeghin
Having wanted to revisit Liberi Fatali, I jumped at the chance to join Materia’s Final Fantasy VIII effort. I encouraged Marc to really go all-out in terms of the arrangement, resulting in a completely original, yet oddly Uematsu-esque, intro to the piece. This piece marks the first time we’ve collaborated on production for a song, as well as my first time mixing one of Marc’s arrangements, so I’m looking forward to hearing what people think! -Matt Mukerjee (HatTrax)
