My fiancé Vanessa is a huge Final Fantasy VIII fan so I felt it was my duty to contribute to this compilation. I wanted to capture the feel of relaxing and chilled out song that might have been made around the same time that VIII came out. So I wanted to use contemporary sounding synths and sampling techniques. Like with all my music I used Ableton Live and a Push while sitting on my couch (usually with a fluffy kitty in my lap) to make the track. Originally there was no sax in the piece but I thought it felt a bit flat and wanted to play up the “sampled" feel. So I asked Kasey Polk for some recordings of the melody as well as some one-off notes; which I then chopped up and otherwise edited into the final piece. My good friend and Canadian Viking: Matt Marteinsson adeptly provided the mix for the track much like he did on my Nova-111 soundtrack album. I think I gave him more trouble on this one song than I did the entirety of Nova-111!
