While playing the game, I was inspired by the haunting, ancient-sounding melody in all of the various iterations of the Hymn of the Fayth. I loved Valefor in particular for the soprano’s beautiful, clear tone. The basis of my arrangement is still that pure-sounding soprano solo line, but I also decided to draw from the Renaissance sacred choral tradition. This can be heard in the complex polyphony and contrapuntal relationship between the voice parts, with voices weaving in and out amongst each other. Because I retained the sacred feel of the piece, I can still imagine my version being sung in a grand religious space. Thank you to everyone who sang on my arrangement and helped bring it to life!
