“Lied of the Fayth” - During this past summer when working with my ensemble Invisible Anatomy, I began experimenting with 19th century musical idioms, particularly that of Brahms and the romantic lied. So when this project was announced, the first idea I had was to do a setting of the unaccompanied hymn from Final Fantasy X in the style of a romantic German Lieder. I choose this method since the original melody is simple enough as to be easily molded into a variety of styles and idioms…and also because I thought it would be funny.
