I, Peter, did not experience Xenogears in my youth - thanks to the influence of this album, I picked up a copy to experience along the way of production. Lahan’s destruction and the deaths of Fei’s friends were unsettling. This theme playing in the background of the Blackmoon Forest was both beautiful and haunting. I often go alone for hikes and reflect on my life’s events, so reflecting on Lahan led me to realize just how relatable, deep, and convicting this game is.

With Sauraen, I also co-produced “The Beginning and the End” (OMEGA track 2-18) which is sung in Bulgarian. I felt like contributing further to the multicultural inspirations of Xenogears in Blackmoon’s sound design. The Kansas City suburb I live in has much heritage rooted in Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian, and the like. In fact, the town celebrates its annual Slavic Festival not far from my residence. I recorded the track’s nighttime ambience on the grounds where this festival is celebrated in tribute to that cultural inspiration of Xenogears.
