I had a blast arranging music for The Bwak Choir, a chorus of chickens based on Camilla and her sisters in The Muppet Show, so when I decided to try arranging something for the Sonic collaboration my first thought was… what sounds chickenny. The joy of trying to find something to fit my feathered feelings was supported by the universe of Sonic and his nemesis Robotnik having a very heavy egg and bird theme. The title “Death Egg Zone” stood out like a sore claw and I had to take it. Seeing as the zone’s music itself is relatively short, I also added in the following Act 2 battle music, drawn by it’s neat almost polka-esque possibilities. As with the former “Waltz De Chocobo Featuring The Bwak Choir” I designed this song based on what the resulting music video would entail. So far you can imagine this scene while listening; We open to a farm setting, mother hens are happily sitting on their eggs waiting for them to hatch. Some of the hens hear a cracking sound and we reveal chicks popping into the world. The hens and chicks sing together but slowly we realize the hens are rounding up their chicks to teach them how to take over the world!.... And hilarity ensues:) I hope you enjoy this, my second Bwak Choir creation, “Death Eggs Over Easy”. Also additional special shoutouts go to an uncredited, and possibly the youngest, new member of Materia, Emma Everett, the 4 year old daughter of Bwak Choir member Joel Everett. We were delighted to add her ‘cheeps’ to our chorus;)
