As soon as I heard this piece, I knew that the arpeggios and haunting chromaticism would sound beautiful on the harp. This arrangement of “The Nightmare Begins” is inspired by the music of the French Impressionist movement, as reflected in the variety of tone colors used and in its dream-like nature. I was also influenced by French Musette accordion music, as well as by the music of Loreena McKennit.
