Tifa’s been through a lot: her childhood town burned down, her best friend/crush Cloud left her, and she takes care of Marlene while helping run AVALANCHE and so on. I see Tifa as the woman who is strong, yet in pain, she loves Cloud but is friend-zoned by him. I felt the theme has a very vocal and emotional melody. I wanted to keep the piano track quite pure to honor the original work (since I think it’s already very good), but bring out the emotion in the melody line using the Viola. I hope this performance did her pain and her love justice.
