One Winged Angel is one of the most iconic songs not just from Final Fantasy VII, but from the entire video game music repertoire as well. When I chose to arrange this song I knew that it would be a challenge. Luckily, I always like challenging myself. There are several official versions of One Winged Angel with its own nuances. I decided to combine my favourite parts from three key versions; the Advent Children version for its badass epic rock feel, the Kingdom Hearts version for its more direct to the point approach, and Dissidia's more snappy rhythms. The final result is a nice hybrid arrangement of all three combined with my personal approach and an entirely original section I added in. As for the vocal parts, I wanted to retain the big choir sound of the original versions so I asked four talented sopranos and altos to join my bass and tenor parts. We recorded several tracks of our vocal parts and layered them together to create that epic choir sound.
