With "It's Hard to Concerto on Both Feet!", I wanted to take a lower key, rather humorous piece and inject some late Romantic-era passion, fire, and flair into it. Inspired by the Hungarian Rhapsodies of Lizst, Paganini's Violin Concertos, and a healthy dose of central european gypsy music, alongside my own unique brand of madness, I concocted a concert-style orchestral work for solo violin and trumpet, complete with improvisatory cadenzas and virtuosic passages. I could not have done it without the amazingly talented Michaela Nachtigall on violin, and the superb xylophone and marimbaphone skills of Joel Everett.
