Recording Notes: The main character, Cecil, the commanding knight of the Kingdom of Baron, has a love interest named Rosa. At the beginning of the game, Cecil fights rather aimlessly for the empire, not realizing that his acts are evil. He eventually comes around and becomes good. Also, his best friend, Kain, is also in love with Rosa, so it causes a bit of a love triangle situation. I think you’ve pretty much nailed the feels, though. The song plays several times throughout the game, and is particularly powerful when Cecil is making his shift from evil to go d, and that he always has Rosa’s unconditional love.
Track Commentary: I’ve heard Nobuo Uematsu speak at events about how important this song is to the game. Even though there’s a “Main Theme”, “Theme of Love” is truly the main theme of the game, hence the full vocal production they did to celebreate the game’s release on the Nintendo DS. And what’s not to like about the song? It’s beautiful, capturing the feelings of love even with the or ginal SNES version. I knew William would elevate it with a live performance.
