Recording Notes: At the end of the game you get the Lunar Whale, a futuristic spaceship that lets you fly to the moon to get to the final encounter. You land on the moon. It’s strange, it’s mysterious, but it’s also untouched and beautiful. I think the song captures all of those things. Really an amazing experience the first time you land and hear this song.
Track Commentary: This track gets absolutely no respect. It’s always been one of my personal favorites, coming at a strange and mysterious at a moment in the game when you’d be expecting something more decisive as you approach the finale. I wanted it to get the attention it deserved, and William came through with flying colors, working in all the techniques he mentions in the interview above. I hope this will give fans an opportunity to re-listen to the original and develop a new appreciation for it.
