Mike is an award-winning journalist-turned-musician based in the Chicagoland area who loves cats, has an unusually extensive knowledge of craft root beer, and can usually be found humming Disney music to himself. His alter-ego, Viking Jesus, is a Nordic demigod of metal and video games with the intention of taking over the world with the power held within his mighty beard. VJ is most well-known in the music world for performing live internationally with the touring “Video Games Live” concert , and releasing brutalized heavy metal video game covers to the world. VJ’s work has been featured on Game Informer, Kotaku, Destructoid, Gamespot, and G4. VJ also works with composers on video game scores, most notably the Banner Saga games with Austin Wintory, in which VJ literally sawed a guitar in half to record the sound of “pure destruction.”  VJ has now teamed up with Materia Collective to spread forth the gospel of video game music even further.
