Kirill Polyanskiy has been interested in music in video games his entire life. Born in Moscow, Russia, he moved to suburban Milwaukee with his family where he grew up playing games like Starcraft and Minecraft and absorbing the music. Interested in playing it, he delved into the depths of the internet in order to find practical arrangements of this music for the piano and violin. What he found was Sebastian Wolff's then-primitive website of arrangements free to download and play! He spent many a day meticulously learning Howl’s Moving Castle theme, One Summer’s Day from Spirited Away, and a whole host of Minecraft piano sheet music.
Now attending Washington State University double majoring in Composition and Violin Performance, Kirill spends his free time arranging for the Materia Collective, the Seattle Video Game Orchestra and Choir, and practicing his violin. He is the Concertmaster of the WSU Symphony Orchestra and plays in the first violin section of the Washington Idaho Symphony. Kirill would like to give a big shout out to Sebastian Wolff, Charles Ritz, Josh Barron, his family and especially Masha Lepire for getting him through a tough semester of self-doubt in arranging and composing, and for putting together this incredible album.
