Cris Gale is foremost an ocarina soloist, but is also an ocarina designer, educator, and popularist. Like so many others, Cris initially learned about the ocarina from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda : Ocainra of Time. While she was originally trained in the flute, the magical sound of the ocarina was irresistible, and in 1999 the ocarina became her primary instrument.
Frequently invited to perform at international festivals, Cris works with both international and domestic cultural interchange organizations to not only advance the ocarina, but also increase cultural understanding through music. She co-headlined the USA-Japan Goodwill Concert at Carnegie Hall, and is the founder and president of the United States Ocarina Association. As an ocarina ambassador, Cris gives educational presentations at schools, clubs, conventions, and festivals, including the United States Ocarina Festival, which she organizes.
